About Twin Cities Area Shih Tzu Club

 

The Twin Cities Area Shih Tzu Club was formed in 1973. The first meeting was held on November 5, 1973. A temporary election of officers was held and the initial officers were:

The first official newsletter of the Twin Cities Area Shih Tzu Club was the March/April 1977 issue.

The purpose of our club is to do everything possible to protect and maintain the integrity of the Shih Tzu breed.

We educate the general public about the Shih Tzu with our main concern being the health and welfare of the breed.

We urge our members and breeders to accept and breed to the Standard of the Breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only Standard of Excellence by which Shih Tzu shall be judged.

To do all in our power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsman like competition at dog shows, obedience trials and agility trials.

The club meetings are held in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area on the first Monday of every other month at 7:30PM. Currently we have 30 members.

TCASTC hosts an annual Specialty Show in June. This show is held in conjunction with the Lake Minnetonka Kennel Club Specialty Cluster Show in Jordan Minnesota.

In 1996 and 2003, our club hosted the American Shih Tzu Club National Specialty show.

Our Members are located primarily in Minnesota but we do have a few members in Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska.
